If you’re a Christian homemaker, feeling isolated, or just looking to build a community, you are so not alone. Today, I want to talk about some simple but powerful ways to find that Christian sisterhood we all need.

Life is so much sweeter when we have Christian mom friends to share the joys and struggles of motherhood with – to edify, admonish, and connect with.

Tips for Building a Christian Community of Moms

Join Local Christian Groups

One of the best places to start is by joining Christian groups. Have you heard of BSF or MOPS? These are wonderful communities where moms come together, support each other, and dig into their faith. If you haven’t tried them, look them up! There’s often a group close to you.

Join Local Facebook Groups

And, of course, Facebook can be a great resource. Just try searching for ‘[your town] Christian mamas’ or ‘[your town] Christian moms,’ and you’ll often find groups dedicated to connecting moms nearby. Don’t underestimate the power of these online groups—they’re a great way to start finding that community vibe even from home.

Be Bold in Person!

Head to your local park and strike up a conversation with other moms. I know it can feel a little scary at first, but sometimes just saying a simple ‘hi’ opens the door to a new friendship. If you’re homeschooling, or even if your kids are in public or private school, look into co-ops, PTAs, or committees where you can meet other parents who may share your values.

In Your Neighborhood

If you live in a neighborhood, find folks close to you to connect with and see where the Lord takes the relationship. If you don’t live close to others, find people at local coffee shops, etc. to connect with. Often you will find people who aren’t in your current season of life who would love to chat — maybe elderly or even teenagers — that’s great! You may find a grandmother who has wisdom to share. Or perhaps a teenager who you can pour into and serve by teaching them your homemaking skills.

Find Connection Through Your Church

Your church is another amazing place to connect. Look around when you’re dropping off your kids for Sunday school—there are likely other moms nearby. Introduce yourself! Many churches also have a mother’s room or parent lounge, which is a perfect spot to meet other moms who are likely in a similar season.

Create the Community You’re Looking For

One of the most important things to remember is that sometimes you have to make the community. Occasionally, people will come into your life naturally, but most of the time, you’ll need to be bold and create those connections. Host a small gathering, invite a mom friend for coffee, or start a Bible study in your home. When you’re willing to step out, others will respond.

So whether it’s online, at the park, through school groups, or within your church, there are so many ways to start building connections. And trust me, I know it can feel intimidating, but the community you build will be worth it.
