Fall in Love with Your Life as a Homemaker & Stop Mindless Scrolling
Have you ever picked up your phone just to check one thing—and before you know it, 45 minutes have passed, dinner still isn’t started, and your kids are tugging at your sleeve for attention?
If you feel like your days slip away in a cycle of scrolling and distractions, I have good news for you. The answer isn’t more self-control. The real answer is living a life so full, so joyful, so engaging—that scrolling doesn’t even cross your mind.
Today, I’m going to show you exactly how to make every day so rich and fulfilling that you naturally stop reaching for your phone. And if you want a step-by-step plan to reset your homemaking and build a daily routine you love, be sure to check out my Free Homemaking Reset Workshop.
If you’re new here, I’m Kyrie, and I help Christian homemakers who are living in a fog of exhaustion and stress to become the patient, peaceful mothers and wives they’ve always dreamed of being while creating a joyful, nurturing home.
Now, let’s dive in.
Why Do We Mindlessly Scroll?
We all know scrolling can be a mindless habit, but have you ever stopped to ask yourself why you do it?
For mothers, I believe the root often lies in feeling trapped in motherhood. It’s an escape from the unpredictability of our days—the baby might wake up, the toddler might skip a nap, or something else might derail our plans at any moment.
When your days feel chaotic, when you feel unappreciated, and when exhaustion weighs heavy, it’s easy to reach for a quick dopamine hit. Scrolling becomes a way to numb the feeling of being stuck.
But here’s the truth: You are not trapped in motherhood.
The Shift That Changes Everything

If you want to stop feeling the urge to escape, you need to fall in love with your real life. And that starts with seeing your children for what they truly are—a gift.
When you view your children as a blessing rather than an inconvenience, everything shifts.
• You’ll see that you can get things done.
• You can pursue hobbies and interests.
• You can accomplish goals—with them right by your side.
Motherhood isn’t a barrier to the life you want. It’s part of the beautiful, abundant life God has given you.
The Simple Morning Habit That Changes Everything

One of the most life-changing shifts I made was slowing down in the mornings.
I used to try to power through my to-do list early in the day so I could relax at night. And while this worked for productivity, it didn’t work well for connecting with my kids.
Instead, I started pouring into their love tanks first thing in the morning—as if I had all the time in the world.
Now, we start our mornings with:
✔️ Snuggles and playtime
✔️ Reading books together
✔️ Bible time and prayer
✔️ Praise and worship
And you know what happened when I stopped rushing and started serving my children first?
They felt deeply connected to me and were happy to go off and play—giving me plenty of time to tackle my tasks, mostly uninterrupted.
If you feel like you’re constantly battling between getting things done and being present with your children—try this. Give them your attention first. It makes everything else so much easier.
Delighting in Your Kids Is a Skill—Not Just a Feeling

A lot of moms think that delighting in their children just happens naturally. But the truth is—it’s a mindset you have to cultivate.
It doesn’t happen overnight. You have to train your brain to find joy in your everyday moments until it becomes your natural inclination.
In my course, I teach an exercise called the Ideal Homemaker Persona, where we intentionally define:
• How we want to act
• How we want to respond in stressful moments
• How we want to speak to our children
• How we want to interact with our husbands
• Even how we want to get dressed each morning
When you repeatedly visualize this version of yourself, your brain starts becoming that version of you. It’s a simple and powerful tool!

How to Make Your Days More Exciting
I remember when I was a new mom, I felt paralyzed—like I couldn’t do any of the fun things I used to because my life revolved around my child.
But here’s what I’ve learned: Motherhood isn’t meant to be lived in a safe little box.
If you’ve been wanting to check out a new spot in town, take your kids with you!
Will it be a disaster? Maybe. Could everything go wrong? Possibly. But do it anyway.
The more you push past the fear of things being hard, the more confident you’ll become in handling the unexpected. Forget the stroller? Toddler has an accident? Didn’t pack enough snacks? It’s all a learning experience.
Get out, try new things, and show your kids what it looks like to live fully.
Always Have Something Exciting to Do

If you want to stop scrolling, give yourself something even more exciting to do instead.
Always have a project or skill you’re working on:
• Learn how to cook a new meal from scratch.
• Start a home garden.
• Try your hand at sewing or embroidery.
• Master the art of homemade pies.
Keeping your brain engaged not only makes your days more fun, but it also makes you a more interesting person to talk to!
When you’re excited about learning, you bring energy into your conversations—with your husband, your kids, and your friends.
Plan for Your Free Time—Before It Happens

One of the biggest reasons we reach for our phones is because we don’t have a plan for our free moments.
Instead of scrolling, create a dopamine menu—a list of quick, life-giving activities you can do when you have downtime.
When you always have something better to do, scrolling naturally fades out of your life.
You don’t need more willpower to stop scrolling. You just need to fill your days with so much joy, connection, and purpose that social media becomes irrelevant—and motherhood feels limitless.
