Are You Consuming or Creating? How to Transform Your Home with What You Learn
Have you ever found yourself binge-watching homemaking videos, feeling super inspired… only to look around at your house and realize nothing has changed?
You’re not alone.
We live in a world that constantly pushes us to consume—endless videos, blog posts, and social media tips. But what if I told you that this habit of always consuming could actually be keeping you stuck?
That’s what we’re talking about today.
I want to help you shift from simply consuming homemaking content to actually applying it in a way that transforms your home. And by the end of this post, I have a challenge for you that could radically change the way you approach homemaking.
God Designed Women to Create
As homemakers, we aren’t just living in our homes—we are building them.
Proverbs 14:1 says, “The wise woman builds her house, but the foolish pulls it down with her hands.”
The question is: Are you building your home, or are you just watching other women do it?
It’s okay to watch something and feel inspired, but inspiration alone won’t bring transformation. It’s what you do with that inspiration that changes things.
If you’re a Christian homemaker who wants to break free from overwhelm and start building the home you dream of, I have a free workshop that will help you do just that. In this workshop, you’ll get a 7-day homemaking reset with powerful, actionable challenges to put into place this week.
Women have written to me saying that this workshop alone transformed their homes from chaos and overwhelm to peace. That’s the power of creating from what you consume.
Are You Stuck in the Homemaking Hack Trap?
So many homemakers fall into this cycle:
• Searching for the next best cleaning trick
• Watching endless “day in the life” videos
• Looking for that one tip that will finally make everything easier
Now, I love sharing homemaking tips myself—but at the end of the day, you need a plan to actually live them out.
So am I telling you to stop watching homemaking content? No! That would be really bad for my blog, haha.
But I am saying this: Watch with your apron on.
The Secret That Will Change How You Learn
I once read that we should read the Bible with our work boots on—meaning we don’t just skim the words, we analyze them, apply them, and let them shape how we live.
Here’s my version of that: Read the Bible & watch content with your apron on.
As homemakers, we wear aprons to get down in the mess—to turn disorder into beauty, chaos into peace. That’s exactly how we should approach homemaking content.
Don’t just watch. Engage. Take notes. Ask yourself:
• How does this apply to my home?
• How can I live this out today?
When you do this, something powerful happens…
You actually start watching less content.
From Mindless Consumption to Intentional Action

When you “watch with your apron on,” you won’t waste time on endless videos because you won’t have time for that.
Instead, you’ll go in with intention.
• You’ll consume less because you’ll be busy applying what you’ve already learned.
• You’ll feel less overwhelmed because you’ll be taking small, steady steps toward your ideal home.
Your Homemaking Challenge
The next time you watch a homemaking video or read a blog post, I want you to:
1. Write down two key takeaways.
2. Commit to applying at least one of them this week.
3. Schedule it in your planner—and follow through.
Because when you do this, you won’t just be consuming—you’ll be creating the home God has called you to build.
The Most Important Step

There are so many wonderful, Holy Spirit-led homemakers sharing wisdom online. But if that wisdom is just going in one ear and out the other, it won’t change your home.
It won’t change you.
Instead, it will leave you feeling frustrated—like you’re always inspired in the moment, but nothing ever sticks. Worse yet, it can leave you feeling like a failure because no matter how much you watch, your home still isn’t where you want it to be.
But it doesn’t have to stay that way.
Let’s make a transformation right now.
Consume homemaking content with your apron on.
And most importantly—create instead of just consuming.
If you’re ready to take this to the next level, don’t forget to sign up for my free workshop, where I’ll walk you through exactly how to build a home that reflects God’s design. You’ll get a 7-day homemaking reset that will take your home from chaos to joy in just one week.
Now I’d love to hear from you: What’s one thing you’re committing to apply this week? Let me know in the comments—I can’t wait to cheer you on!
