What is 3 Ingredient Peanut Sauce

3 ingredient peanut sauce is a Thai-inspired sauce with a peanut butter base and can be used for any Asian dishes that need a little jazzing up.

This 3 ingredient peanut sauce takes about one minute and there’s no food processor or any special equipment required. Simply pull out a bowl and a fork and you’ll be on your way.

  • Takes 1 minute to make
  • No special equipment needed
  • Versatile sauce used for dipping, drizzling or sauteeing
  • Amazing flavor

How to Make 3 Ingredient Peanut Sauce

This 3 ingredient peanut sauce takes about one minute and there’s no food processor or any special equipment required.

Ingredients

Creamy peanut butter – I use natural, no sugar-added peanut butter. You could use creamy or crunchy.

Coconut aminos – liquid aminos or low sodium soy sauce would work well too.

Sweet chili Thai sauce – this is what gives this sauce its sweetness and a bit of a kick too!

Step by Step Instructions (with photos)

Simply mix all the ingredients in a bowl with a fork and call it good!

How to store 3 ingredient peanut sauce

Store 3 ingredient peanut sauce in an air-tight container in the refrigerator for up to 7 days. Note that it will thicken up in the refrigerator and you might want to add a little water to thin it out when you go to reuse it.

3 Ingredient Peanut Sauce Tips

  • Let it marinate – if you have time, let your sauce sit out at room temperature for 15 minutes prior to serving so the flavors can marinate.
  • Thin out – if you aren’t using natural peanut butter, your sauce will come out thicker than mine – use water to thin it out (mix in 1 tbs at a time until it reaches desired consistency).
  • Add texture – crushed peanuts or crunchy peanut butter will give this sauce a crunchy texture.
  • Make it spicy – add red pepper flakes if you want even more spice.

How to Make 3 Ingredient Peanut Sauce Healthier

  • Coconut or liquid aminos – using these options instead of soy sauce are more metabolically supportive than soy and often have much less sodium.
  • Sweet Thai sauce – I like the Sky Valley brand since it uses all-natural ingredients and much less sugar than the other brands.
  • Peanut butter – Using peanut butter without added sugar or other poor ingredients will make for a much healthier peanut sauce. Look for one with just “peanuts and sea salt” as the ingredients.

How to Serve 3 Ingredient Peanut Sauce

This peanut sauce is so versatile – you’ll definitely want to make yourself a double batch and use the leftovers for any of the below dishes.

3 Ingredient Peanut Sauce Substitutions and Options

If you want to custamize your 3 ingredient peanut sauce, go for it! Here are some ideas:

  • Hoisin sauce – check out my hoisin peanut sauce recipe
  • Rice vinegar – this will make your sauce a bit more sour and thin it out.
  • Sugar – some people like a sweeter peanut sauce, in which case you could add some honey or another sweetener of choice.
  • Coconut milk – coconut milk will give your sauce a bit more of a curry taste, and will also thin it out.
  • Red curry – one of my favorite ways to jazz up peanut sauce is to add a little red curry! The flavor is out of this world.
  • Red pepper flakes – add a pinch of red pepper flakes to make your sauce even spicier.
